The Cal-Organic Farms® that we know today is the culmination of dedication to excellence that stretches through multiple generations. We have been pioneers in the field of organic farming and certified since the Duncan family founded the company in 1984. That focus is as strong today as it has ever been.
Our story began with a tiny, quarter-acre plot of lettuce in Lamont, California, and foresight by the Duncans to do things differently – we believe, better – than many others in the produce industry. We have increased our organic capabilities year after year, giving us the capacity to now grow more than 65 seasonal and year-round vegetables completely on premium acreage in the USA.
Cal-Organic Farms® became a member of the Grimmway Farms family of brands in 2001. We made this strategic move to expand distribution and make our organic produce available to more consumers nationwide. Along the way, we have received several major retail industry awards including Supplier of the Year from Whole Foods Market and Produce Vendor of the Year from Albertsons Companies of Southern California.
